Today, two Norwegian lawmakers Karin Andersen and Snorre Valen SV formally nominated Waleed Abu al-Khair for the Nobel Peace Prize. This nomination reflects not only Waleed's courageous work with regard to representing Raif Badawi the imprisoned writer who was recently flogged in Saudi Arabia despite universal calls for amnesty, but also Waleed's tireless representation of many other human rights clients and his promotion of human rights in Saudi Arabia through the Monitor of Human Rights in Saudi Arabia organization, (MHRSA), which he founded and led prior to his wrongful imprisonment.
