Amazon should stand by their products and recall and/or extend warranties for the Kindle Fire product line.  A one-year warranty should be sufficient to cover a single faulty device, but is not sufficient to cover a faulty product line. The Kindle Fire device charging issues are unacceptable for a company of Amazon's reputation. The current return policy that offers a discount to replace devices beyond the initial 12 month purchase feels like a scam to make customers continue purchasing inferior products. Amazon needs to fix this product and stand by their loyal customers.
