With the growth of technology and internet penetration, most of the orders in India are being fulfilled by online shopping platforms. This has made it difficult for users to identify the source country of the product. Until the package is delivered and we see the box, there is no easy way for us to identify the country in which the product was manufactured and assembled.

Through this petition, we would like to bring this notice to the Indian Commerce department, and the leading eCommerce platforms to start mentioning the country of origin of the product, which includes manufactured and assembled in detail. This information should be available and accessible for all the produces on online shopping portals.

Every consumer has a right to know where the goods he is purchasing coming from. It will also help the consumers decide on which product they want to purchase, many consumers want to buy homeland manufactured items instead of imported ones, and finding this information becomes very difficult in online shopping.
