#AltoAlFuegoYa: Llamado abierto a un alto al fuego inmediato en la Franja de Gaza e Israel para evitar una catástrofe humanitaria y más pérdidas de vidas inocentes

Hemos sido testigos de una muerte y una destrucción inconmensurables en la Franja de Gaza e Israel. Miles de personas han sido asesinadas, han resultado heridas, han sido desplazadas y casi doscientas permanecen secuestradas, entre ellas niños y ancianos.

En Gaza, la ONU ha declarado que el agua, los alimentos, el combustible, los suministros médicos e incluso las bolsas para cadáveres se están agotando debido al asedio. La ONU ha advertido de que la
gente -sobre todo los niños pequeños- pronto empezará a morir de deshidratación severa. Vecindarios completos han quedado destruidos y convertidos en escombros. Los palestinos que buscan seguridad no
tienen adónde ir. Ha sido reportado que muchas de las personas que se trasladaron del norte de Gaza hacia sur de la franja tras la orden de evacuación del ejército israelí fueron bombardeados mientras
intentaban huir o una vez que llegaron al sur de Gaza.

Los acontecimientos de la última semana nos han llevado al precipicio de una catástrofe humanitaria y el mundo ya no puede esperar más para actuar. Es nuestra responsabilidad colectiva.

El domingo 15 de octubre, el Coordinador Humanitario de las Naciones Unidas para los Territorios Palestinos Ocupados hizo un llamado a todas las partes en conflicto, y a los Estados Miembros con influencia de la ONU, para que acordaran urgentemente un alto al fuego humanitario.

Hoy, unimos nuestras voces y hacemos un llamado a todos los Jefes de Estado, al Consejo de Seguridad de la ONU y a los actores en el terreno, para que den prioridad a la protección de la vida humana por encima de todo lo demás. Durante este alto al fuego, hacemos un llamado a todas las partes para que incondicionalmente:

1. Faciliten la entrega de asistencia vital, incluidos alimentos, suministros médicos, combustible y la reanudación de la electricidad e Internet en Gaza, además del paso seguro del personal humanitario y médico.

2. Liberen a todos los rehenes civiles, especialmente niños y ancianos.

3. Permitanque los convoyes humanitarios lleguen a las instalaciones de la ONU, escuelas, hospitales y centros de salud en el norte de Gaza y se comprometan a protegerlos junto con los civiles y el personal que se encuentren en su interior en todo momento.

4. Rescindan las órdenes del Gobierno de Israel hacia civiles en el norte de Gaza para que abandonen ese territorio.

5. Permitan la evacuación médica de pacientes en estado crítico para que reciban atención urgente.

El Consejo de Seguridad de la ONU, el Secretario General de la ONU y todos los líderes mundiales con influencia deben tomar medidas inmediatas para garantizar la entrada en vigor de un alto al fuego. Esta sigue siendo nuestra única opción para evitar más pérdidas de vidas civiles y una catástrofe humanitaria. Cualquier otra cosa menos será para siempre una mancha en nuestra conciencia colectiva.

Los civiles no son moneda de cambio. Las familias necesitan enterrar y llorar a sus muertos. El ciclo de violencia contra civiles inocentes tiene que acabar.
