I want to thank everyone that has signed and shared the change petition, and another thanks to all those of you that have written in social medias, newspapers or in other ways debated these happenings in Iran.
I wish that it was the sensibility of the Nobel Institute through reading the astonishing democratic voices from the people that lead to them withdrawing their invitation to the Iranian ambassador, but they seem disinterested in listening. Still, I believe that the critique we have amassed here have not been in vain. It is of course speculation, but we have in any way leveraged pressure. It is very possible that the reason the embassy declined the ceremony themselves was in fear of the signals that would have been sent to the brave people of Iran if they had been formally disinvited. It is also a clear message sent from the Iranian embassy to the Institute, and what we tried to tell the Institute: the Iranian embassy does not care for peace or human rights.
The Nobel Institute will sooner or later get into the debate again, and they should assess their ability to understand politics and symbolism when they are warned against it.
Again, thank you all for being an extension of the voice for the people of Iran. Even now, in this very moment of writing, there is an ongoing massacre of kurds in kurdish cities and villages.
