Save Valley View Elementary!!

Save Valley View Elementary!!

The Issue

The Alpine School District Board issued a statement informing us about the possibility of consolidating the Elementary schools in our area and possibly eliminating ours.

Most of you know us personally and know BrookLynn and her specific IEP (Individualized Education Plan). This school has been an awakening inside of her. This staff has lit the flame in her soul and she believes in herself again! Things that were overwhelming and daunting, things that caused her to halt and speak negatively about herself are nothing to her now. She has been growing by leaps and bounds and we would be devastated to lose this school and incredible staff! This school has changed her life!

I don't understand why the District is studying these schools for consolidation during these times. Kids are scattered. Some are on-ground while others are online. Once the pandemic slows all of the kids will be back and I believe that would be the best time to study the demographics of each of these schools.

PLEASE SIGN THIS PETITION TO SAVE OUR ELEMENTARY SCHOOL!!

ALPINE SCHOOL DISTRICT'S STATEMENT-

December 8, 2020
PUBLIC NOTICE

The Alpine School District Board of Education is considering school consolidations and boundary adjustments in three areas of the district: Orem, Pleasant Grove, and American Fork. The schools being formally studied for consolidation are as follows:

Geneva Elementary and Suncrest Elementary
Valley View Elementary
Polaris and Polaris West

The Board has directed district staff to begin working on variables and considerations for each of these areas. The staff will set up several meetings for the school (employees), patrons, and city officials over the next 4-5 weeks. Opportunities for formal public comments will be held during board meetings on February 9th and 23rd.  A public hearing will be scheduled in March.

Following the study of the feedback on consolidation considerations from all communities impacted, a formal recommendation will be generated and presented to the Board in April 2021 for approval.
