For the 2016-2017 school year Alpine School District has significantly shortened our Winter Break. In 2015, our Winter Break went from December 21st to January 1st, a full two weeks and ten schooldays. This year, they have cut that nearly in half going from December 23rd to January 2nd, which is just over one week and is 7 schooldays. We think that our Winter Break should start on the 19th instead, allowing us to have a full two weeks. We wouldn't mind having shorter Fall, Spring, or Summer Breaks if we were able to have Winter Break be of a reasonable length. While it may not seem important, our Winter Break is vital to students and teacher alike to recharge and ready them selves for the next half of the school year, and we have all been frustrated by this unnecessary change.
