The Issue

Petition for Transparency of Ingredients and Sources for People with Severe Alpha-Gal Allergy (AGS)

We, the undersigned, petition all industries to provide complete transparency regarding the ingredients and sources of their ingredients. This is of utmost importance for individuals with severe AGS, an allergy to alpha-gal, a sugar molecule found in red meat and certain other animal products.

AGS can cause life-threatening reactions, and individuals with this allergy must strictly avoid consuming alpha-gal. However, due to the lack of transparency in ingredient labeling and sourcing practices, it is often challenging for people with AGS to identify and avoid products that may contain alpha-gal.

We urge all industries to take the following steps to ensure transparency:

  • Clearly list all ingredients on product labels, including any hidden sources of alpha-gal, such as gelatin, natural flavors, and animal-derived enzymes.
  • Provide detailed information about the sources of ingredients, including the country of origin and the farming practices used.
Implement strict quality control measures to prevent cross-contamination with alpha-gal.
  • Regularly review and update ingredient lists and sourcing information to ensure accuracy.
  • Work closely with consumer advocacy groups and individuals with AGS to understand their needs and concerns.

We believe that transparency is essential for the health and well-being of people with AGS. By providing complete and accurate information about ingredients and sources, industries can empower individuals with AGS to make informed decisions about the products they consume.

We urge you to join us in supporting this petition and taking action to ensure that people with AGS have access to safe and suitable products.
