The Ipoh Grass Hockey Carnival (Ipoh 6’s & 7’s GHC, in short Ipoh GHC) based on the “push hockey” concept is proposed as an annual hockey carnival co-organized by the 30-50 Hockey Club and Old Michaelians’ Association (OMA) to promote grass (field) hockey as a sustainable sport.

This event aims to achieve the following fourfold goals (4fold goals) of: (i) promoting midi grass pitch "push hockey" as a community sport; (ii) increasing accessibility (exposure) to the sport, attracting more people to enjoy the game of hockey and also a catalyst for developing young potential; (iii) be a platform for engaging the local schools and local community to appreciate the benefits of developing sports programs that are in keeping with sustainable development goals (SDGs), and finally (iv) to safeguard nature, contribute to new biodiversity goals and restore key ecosystems. 

This event is to be held over a one day period (7th October) at the iconic IPOH PADANG/Taman D R Seenivasagam in Ipoh, Perak (major green lung surrounded by pockets of urbanized heat islands).

The event is to be organized as a Sixes & Sevens Hockey Carnival catering for three different age groups, i.e. U-15s (14+ and below 1st Jan 2023), Above 45s (i.e. 45+ 1st Jan 2023) and Above 55s (i.e. 55+ 1st Jan 2023), that is to be played on a “midi” pitch (75yds x 45yds).

The duration of each game will be for a continuous period of 12 minutes active playing time. The Six-a-side for the Above 45s and Seven-a-side for the Above 55s category will comprise of 4 teams in each category, whilst the U-15s category will be a seven-a-side with 8 participating teams (as they will comprise of a novel group of local youngsters who have attended coaching clinics on grass hockey organized by Club 30-50 and OMA - coached on a voluntary basis by qualified coaches including ex-Perak hockey players).
