Allowing a Substitute for Legion Gaming

The Issue

To our fellow coaches, players, and staff of the Halo World Championship teams,

We, the undersigned, are writing to you today out of a shared respect for the highest level of Halo competition and a profound belief in the principles of fair play.

As you know, Legion Gaming earned its spot at the Halo World Championship through months of dedication, strategic excellence, and teamwork. They proved themselves to be one of the best teams in the world and deserve to compete on its biggest stage.

However, due to an unfortunate and unforeseen incident resulting in the ineligibility of one of their players, their opportunity to compete at their full potential is now in jeopardy. The current ruling, which would require them to compete with their coach, effectively penalizes the three other members of the team who have worked tirelessly all season and are not at fault for the situation.

We believe this outcome is detrimental not only to Legion Gaming but to the integrity of the entire tournament for several key reasons:

It Punishes Innocent Players: The remaining three players on Legion have committed their lives to this pursuit. Forcing them to compete with a severe handicap for reasons outside of their control is an unjust outcome that goes against the spirit of sportsmanship.
It Diminishes the Competition: Every team here has earned the right to face the best possible opponents. The World Championship should be a showcase of Halo at its absolute peak. Allowing a team to compete in a weakened state devalues the matches they play in and the victories earned against them.
It Affects the Spectator Experience: Fans around the world tune in to see the pinnacle of Halo. We owe it to them, and to the legacy of this esport, to ensure every match is a true contest of skill between fully prepared rosters.
Therefore, we formally petition the tournament organizers to grant Legion Gaming a one-time, emergency roster exemption. We propose that they be allowed to field a qualified substitute player for the duration of the Halo World Championship. This substitute would be a player who is otherwise eligible to compete and is not currently on the roster of another qualified World Championship team.

By signing this, we are not condoning the actions of any single player; we are standing up for the other three who have earned their shot. We are sending a unified message that we, the collective competitors, value fairness and the integrity of our sport above all else.

Let us ensure that the Halo World Championship is a true and accurate test of the best teams in the world.

Respectfully,

Thug Nasty (ENVY COACH)
