Allow Woodhouse Brewing and Blending to Continue Operating as a Community Venue

Allow Woodhouse Brewing and Blending to Continue Operating as a Community Venue

The Issue

We represent the artists and patrons who frequent Woodhouse Brewing and Blending in Santa Cruz, CA - a venue that has become highly esteemed and beloved by our community in only three short years. Besides the quality entertainment that has often been on display there, we feel that much of the support for Woodhouse has come by way of the ownership's demonstrable commitment to diverse and inclusive programming. Events here are typically all ages and free to the public, making them a vital part of our community's social fabric.

Far more than just a brewery, Woodhouse's entertainment activities, like the recent Brazilian Day, Mexi-Pino Festival and Afrobeats Nite Santa Cruz have been instrumental in uniting our community for beloved cultural celebrations. A recent order by the City of Santa Cruz halting entertainment activities at Woodhouse will, therefore, impact our local culture significantly.

Santa Cruz is known for its vibrant arts scene with live music playing an integral role (City of Santa Cruz Economic Development Office). The cessation of entertainment activities at Woodhouse does, not only, affect artists but also patrons who rely on such venues for cultural enrichment- not to mention vendors and the employees of the brewery who depend on these events for their income.

We understand that regulations are necessary for public safety. Yet we believe there can be a balance between adhering to these rules while still allowing businesses like Woodhouse Brewing and Blending to operate their entertainment activities.

By signing this petition, you're supporting not just one business but an entire community that thrives on inclusivity, diversity, and shared experiences through music. Let us stand together in urging authorities to grant permission for Woodhouse Brewing & Blending to resume its much-needed entertainment activities.
