Allow Wawa and Aldi to be built in Mount Joy Township

The Issue

Hello neighbors. As I’m sure most of you are aware, developers are trying to bring us a new shopping complex that includes a Wawa convenience store/gas station as well an Aldi grocery store. This is being proposed to be built at the intersection of Cloverleaf road and S. Market Street. The developers have unfortunately been met with nothing but opposition from the Mount Joy Township board.

The initial proposal by the developer (Pennmark) was immediately denied due to concerns of the size of the proposed shopping center. Hearing the feedback from the township, Pennmark modified their plans to scale down the center, but still be able to bring us an Aldi and Wawa. Pennmark even agreed to leave 10 acres along Ridge Run Road completely undeveloped indefinitely.

The response from the township supervisor, Gerald Cole, was that he “still had no interest in the project.” Gerald Cole is stating there is “large public opposition” to the center.

Apparently the local residents who are opposed to the center have made themselves heard. Now, it is time for the people who support this shopping center to make OURSELVES heard. This area is a growing community and it is time to allow businesses in to grow and evolve with us.

The lease that Pennmark has with Wawa and Aldi are getting close to running out so we need to make our voices heard now! Please sign AND share this petition so we can let Mount Joy Township know that we want these stores in our community!
