Allow Video Games/Entertainment on GNASD Computers After School
The Issue
I am AJ, a 15-year-old sophomore from the Greater Nanticoke Area School District. Many students, like me, have tried to access entertainment or video game websites after school to relieve ourselves after a long day at school.
Unfortunately, websites like GeForce NOW and Netflix are blocked after school. Blocking websites for students after a frustrating or stressful day can lead to slowly deteriorating mental health for the whole student body, especially if students are poor and do not have another way to access websites for video games, entertainment, and other things that may be blocked by the Linewize extension, which was created by an Australian company named Qoria.
Plus, playing games can help strengthen relationships between students. For example, say that students A and B don't talk to each other much. Student A may have merchandise from a specific game, like Rocket League, that student B may also like. Student B approaches student A to play together. Student A says yes. Both students get on a game around 5:30pm. They agree to talk to each other more and play again. This can lead to a long-lasting and enduring relationship for both students.
Hopefully, the administrators at the Greater Nanticoke Area School District can allow-list certain websites for students after school. Please sign this petition to bring attention to this problem and help solve it.
