The council's have refused my request to swop properties. They have told me that the property has now been designated as a void property and will be processed through the allocation system. If I want to express interest, I would need to place a bid; however, they have also stated that I wouldn't be considered for this as my family requires a three-bedroom property, according to the guidelines.
I fully acknowledge that my family includes two children of different sexes, and I recognize their need for their own space in the long term. Currently, they are not familiar with my nan's house, which one of the bedrooms is double-sized room. I am willing to fund splitting the room to allow the children to have their own space
It would be a personal choice for me to discontinue my search for a three-bedroom property, especially since, although there are government guidelines about bedroom sharing, there is no law explicitly preventing children from sharing a room. Which would benefit the council, 1 less person on the bidding system.
I am very grateful to have a home, and I do not dispute this. However, given the current housing situation, I find myself in a position where I may remain in a house that I am not entirely happy with, as I consistently place over 100 on the bidding system. Finding a suitable property may not be possible in the near future, and I am not in a position to afford private renting despite being employed.
I would be very happy and comfortable living in my nan's home.
I have contacted the neighbors on the street; many of them are individuals I have known since childhood and consider to be close friends and family that are supporting my request. I have also informed the council about the petition; however, it appears that they are not giving it proper consideration. Despite the widespread emphasis on checking in on elderly neighbors, I maintain good relationships with them, but it seems that the council simply do not care.I have reached out to both my local councillor and Member of Parliament, but have received limited support.
I remain committed to my request and will push on, asking them to reconsider as I feel their reasons arent valid, especially when Im aware of a similar case the only difference was someone moving from a house to a flat. The red tape seemed to of been lifted then!
The council would still be gaining my property i can see what the big problem is.
Thank you to everyone that has signed, I really appreciate it, the fight continues!!!
