My name is anonymous, and I am a Transgender woman who experienced a harsh reality: I was born in Montana, a state that despite Federal Law, refuses to acknowledge my right to modify the gender marker on my birth certificate. This has kicked off a long, ambitious, and costly legal battle, and I fear that others facing similar circumstances may not have the means to put up a similar fight.

I – and countless others who do not have the voice or resources – are asking for your support. Birth certificates are more than just papers – they're recognitions of our identity. It is crucial that they reflect who we authentically are, both in name and gender.

Currently, only a few states in the US allow changes in gender markers on birth certificates. This is despite the fact that approximately 1.4 million adults in the United States identify as transgender, according to a study by the Williams Institute at UCLA School of Law.
