The Issue

To the Girlguiding UK Board of Trustees and Chief Executive

We are utterly appalled and heartbroken by the decision announced today, 2 December 2025, to exclude trans girls and young women.

The justification, citing the Supreme Court ruling on biological sex, is a failure of moral leadership. Girlguiding has chosen legal compliance over the welfare, dignity, and belonging of young people. Our long-standing policy recognised that trans girls ARE girls. To change this now is to tell our most vulnerable members they do not belong.

You claim to be committed to inclusion and to creating an ‘equal world for girls’. This cannot be achieved by simultaneously marginalising trans youth and forcing them out.

As leaders and members, we refuse to look a child in the eye and tell her she is no longer welcome to earn her badges and stand with her friends.

We demand the Girlguiding UK Board of Trustees immediately reverse this exclusionary policy. Uphold the compassion and inclusion that has defined our movement for over 100 years.

Sign this petition to tell Girlguiding that inclusion is non-negotiable.
