Allow TPUSA to become a Fort Lewis College Registered Student Organization

Allow TPUSA to become a Fort Lewis College Registered Student Organization
The Issue
Turning Point USA (TPUSA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting conservative values, fostering constructive dialogue, and encouraging students to engage with conservative values on college campuses across the United States. At Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado, a small group of passionate students have started a TPUSA chapter with the hopes of gathering and empowering like-minded students to take part in and promote conservative political discourse.
Despite peaceful intentions and respect for Fort Lewis policies, TPUSA's application to become a registered student organization (RSO) has been denied by the Associated Students of Fort Lewis College (ASFLC). Asa Worthington, the Student Board President hearing the TPUSA RSO case argued "many of our morals and interests must be pushed to the side" and that "the safety of our student body and the FLC community has always been and always will be ASFLC's top priority." Fearing that the extensive opposition to TPUSA's presence at FLC--who have already harassed and threatened violence against this TPUSA chapter--would be enflamed and more likely to commit violence if TPUSA's application for the RSO status was approved.
For an institution that prides itself on its reverence for diversity and inclusion in the academic space, Fort Lewis College has failed to uphold their own values and commitments by restricting conservative voices on campus.
We, therefore, call upon the administration of Fort Lewis College to reverse the decision reached by the ASFLC and approve TPUSA's application for RSO status. By doing so, FLC would prove its dedication to academic integrity, diversity of thought, and the intellectual growth of its students. This will also empower TPUSA to continue promoting conservative ideals and engaging in respectful discourse with the FLC student population.
Therefore, we urge you, members of the community, to sign this petition to back your fellow countrymen, and ensure that the voices of the conservatives on the Fort Lewis College campus, however few they may be, are heard and empowered to engage freely in political discussion, and to promote an intellectually inclusive culture at FLC. Please sign this petition to help make a difference today.
