Allow The Sale of Sweets and Foods for Fundraising Purposes

The Issue

As an active member of multiple school clubs that rely on fundraising through the sale of sweets and baked goods, I am deeply concerned about the new Arlington Public Schools (APS) policy that restricts food-based fundraising. This policy, aimed at promoting healthier food choices and minimizing allergen exposure, prevents our clubs from using bake sales—a vital source of income to keep our activities running. Without these fundraisers, our ability to support educational and extracurricular programs is severely limited. I ask my fellow parents, teachers, and students to join me in opposing this policy, which takes away a meaningful community tradition and threatens the financial stability of student organizations. Together, we can urge APS to reconsider this decision and find a compromise that promotes both student health and the success of our school programs.
