Both YouTube and Instagram currently have no rules against posting animal abuse.
The Issue
Both YouTube and Instagram currently have no option to report posts that contain animal abuse. This is madness, especially after the huge case of Luka Magnotta and 'Don't F**k With Cats'.
Giving people a platform to abuse animals, in any circumstance but in particular for their own personal gain (see ssoyoung who makes money from torturing and eating live octopus/squid etc.) Is unacceptable. You don't have to be an animal lover to understand that harm to animals for pleasure/money/fun is wrong.
The only exception to the reporting of this kind of violence will be in the cases where animal activists or anyone are exposing animal abusers with the intention of saving them and animal liberation. These are examples of when showing animal abuse is for the greater good, and not glorifying, condoning or encouraging violent behaviour towards animals in any way. Including where industry practices and standards are being breached/are dangerous.
Instagram's policies include keeping Instagram a safe place for all and with everyone in mind. Many many cases of animal abuse has attempted to be reported before but there is no real option so will never fall under any category for being banned.
Help us to keep Instagram and YouTube a safe place for all and hold animal abusers to account.
