Our City Council is out of control.
In addition to completely ignoring, now over 6,100 of your signatures which continues to grow, your pleas to just have a conversation about this issue, you have likely heard they censured Councilmember Donelson for calling out campaign donations of $2,500 each to Brian Risley, Michelle Talarico, Lynette Crow-Iverson and David Leinweber from the out-of-state developer Arrowswest applicant in the City Council hearing on Tuesday, June 25th, 2024. You can watch the highlights as well as a few public comments on the building height meeting here. As a result of Councilmember Donelson doing his job for his constituents, City Council censured him in a public hearing where the people were denied the ability to speak and had to just watch him be publicly punished and removed from his board positions.
To add insult to injury, President Helms has moved the public comment from the normal morning time to the end of the hearing on Tuesday to minimize the number of people who speak up against what they did. Let's make them listen to us. Take the time to call in on Tuesday, July 9th and speak out against this abusive leadership. Email Sam Friedman at samuel.friedman@coloradosprings.gov. The call-in number is +1 720-617-3426 and enter ID: 407 995 560#
Because of all of this, many people are clamoring to start Recalls of Councilmembers. Integrity Matters has done recalls before and is taking a list of people who are willing to volunteer to gather signatures for recalling and a ballot initiative for building heights. We could do these all together to make it easier.

Please share it with anyone you think may have an interest including posting it on social media. If we get a large enough response, we may pursue this. It will require a significant number of people to sign up to pursue this. It can be done, but it does require a sincere, organized effort. We are delighted to organize it and arrange for signing stations, etc, but there does need to be a commitment by volunteers to help gather signatures.
We cannot let this behavior stand.
