Belhaven Bay is a popular surf-spot and many surfers take the X7 from Edinburgh to and from Dunbar.

Allowing surfboards on the X7 would make this sport more accessible to people who do not own a car and also make the journey more environmentally friendly since driving wouldn’t be the only option to get to the beach. 

Surfboards can be securely and easily stored against the window in the wheelchair space, leaving enough room for a wheelchair or pram. 

There are plenty of examples of other countries who allow surfboards in buses, trams, etc… and from experience, they do not pose any issue to other users as long as there is space on the bus.
