We, the students and supporters of Texas schools, respectfully ask Galena Park ISD and the Texas Legislature to revise how HB 1481 is enforced.

This law, intended to reduce classroom distractions, is now being used to punish responsible students — even those using tablets and phones for educational and creative purposes like drawing, research, and assignments.

As a result: Students will be sent to ISS for non-disruptive phone use.

Students are at risk of having their tools confiscated. Grades and mental health are suffering.

We ask for:

Clear academic exemptions for devices used with teacher approval. Respect for student rights and flexibility in learning tools.

Dialogue, not punishment.

Don’t let a one-size-fits-all policy punish the students who are doing their best to learn.
