Allow students to be thrown into Westcott for their 21st
One of the most famous traditions of Florida State University is to be thrown into the Westcott Fountain on your 21st birthday. The university is now trying to ban this tradition for students because of the few accidents that have occurred at the fountain, forcing students to use other fountains that are smaller and perhaps even more dangerous.
According to the page about Westcott on LegacyWalk.FSU.edu, "There are many stories, traditions and myths surrounding the fountain. One such tradition is getting dunked into the fountain on your twenty-first birthday. This has been a long-standing tradition at Florida State University, and it has been said that you are not truly a Florida State Seminole until you have been thrown into the Westcott Fountain."
How can the same organization that is supporting and honoring this tradition also try to end it once and for all?
Help keep this tradition alive by signing and sharing this petition for submission to Florida State University, and as always, Go Noles!
