Decorating one's cap is often seen as a student's final opportunity to show their individuality and creativity before stepping into the next chapter of life. It's more than just an act of decoration; it symbolizes the freedom of expression and uniqueness that we should be encouraging in our youth.

By allowing students to personalize their graduation caps can enhance feelings of accomplishment and ownership over their educational journey. Moving a tassel to the left side of a graduation cap was once a small gesture to signify accomplishment.Caps have become a blank canvas for students to express themselves.

Yet, despite these benefits, our school has decided against it.

We are not asking for anything outrageous or disruptive; we simply want our South Park high school seniors to have the chance to express themselves at their own graduation ceremony. Not only that but we pay for the cap and keep it! With all of that being said, this should also go for the graduation classes after us !!

I remember helping my sister decorate her grad cap and being so excited. She graduated from our neighboring school Thomas Jefferson. That was in 2017 so its been 7 years !!

Let us allow these young individuals one last chance at self-expression during high school. Please sign this petition if you believe that South Park high school seniors should be allowed to decorate their graduation caps.
