This morning, the Dublin International Piano Competition (DIPC) openly banned all of its Russian contestants from participation. The administration has decided to punish a large number of its participants for a war they are in no way responsible for. This is morally reprehensible!

Throughout history, even during the darkest days of the Cold War, music competitions and music making in general have been a safe haven for musicians of all nationalities. Van Cliburn famously won the 1958 Tchaikovsky Competition in the USSR and was celebrated worldwide for this achievement. What the DIPC has done goes against all ethical integrity and against what music and artistry stand for. Please sign to show your support and implore the administrators to revoke this unconscionable decision.
