Allow Property Owners Freedom to Shelter in Personal Campers

Allow Property Owners Freedom to Shelter in Personal Campers
The Issue
I am facing a crisis that no property owner should have to endure - the prospect of eviction from my own land and, by extension, the onset of homelessness. The legal bodies governing where I live have given me two disheartening weeks to vacate my premises or face punitive fines or even jail time. My simple wish is to dwell in a camper on my property while I construct a suitable, permanent residency. We did ask before we bought a camper and sold our previous home. We were told a tiny home was acceptable but not unless it had a concrete slab foundation. The person with the Codes and inspections office here in Wyandotte county that told us that regulation suggested we get a camper because it was on wheels and did not require a slab foundation.
This issue extends beyond me. The legality, or otherwise, of living in a camper on one's own land varies greatly across different states and even municipalities. Yet, there is a blossoming community of individuals seeking to adopt a more sustainable and minimalistic lifestyle that have taken up this so-called 'tiny living'. According to the 2018 International Residential Code, a tiny home is considered to be less than 400 square feet, and many municipalities have adjusted their zoning laws accordingly to accommodate this rising trend (source: Tiny House Society, 2020).
It's guiding time to demonstrate that our residence's size and structure shouldn't interfere with our legal right to inhabit our own property. This petition aims to appeal to the legal bodies to review and reconsider the zoning laws that restrict homeowners from utilizing their campers as temporary residences.
Please give voice to my story and support our right to occupy our property as we see fit, without impinging on others' rights or the environment. Lend your signature to this cause to impel the necessary change.
