Allow Professional Pack Walkers to Walk More Than Six Dogs Simultaneously

The issue

Like many dog owners, my own dogs participate in pack walks, a service that provides them with exercise, socialization, and training. The providers of these pack walks are skilled professionals and often walk groups larger than just six dogs without any concern.

The current regulation, which dictates pack walkers can only walk six dogs at once with only three on the lead, is restricting their ability to conduct their work effectively and it's threatening their income. During these challenging times, it feels like an unnecessary and harsh restriction on these professionals.

Moreover, many pack walkers contribute significantly to charitable causes for dogs, and regularly save rescue dogs. They prove their competence daily, yet no incidents have occurred during their pack walks, demonstrating their skill and control over the situation.

According to the National Association of Pet Sitters & Dog Walkers, the average salary for a dog walker before these restrictions was around $22,000 per year. If we consider that one professional walker could safely manage 20 dogs at a time twice a day, the income drop due to current limitations could be about 70%.

The regulation currently in place disregards the practical experience and expert control of these professionals, causing a financial strain on those who rely on this income. It also limits how many dogs these sitial services could reach.

I invite everyone affected by this situation, or anyone who believes in the skill and love our pack walkers offer, to sign this petition. Let's fight together for a fair consideration of the capabilities of professional pack walkers and recognize the value they bring to our canine friends.
