Allow private candidates in Kuwait to defer or cancel May/June exams

The Issue

I am writing this petition to raise serious concern regarding the current examination situation for private candidates in Kuwait.

Due to the ongoing regional conflict and unstable conditions, exams have been cancelled for school candidates in Kuwait. These students have been given an alternative pathway through a Portfolio of Evidence (PoE), allowing them to be assessed fairly without sitting exams.

However, private candidates are still expected to sit for the May/June examinations as usual.

This creates a clear and unfair inequality. All candidates in Kuwait are affected by the same circumstances, yet only school candidates are given flexibility and consideration, while private candidates are required to proceed under normal exam conditions.

This situation places private candidates at a significant disadvantage. Many of us are dealing with the same disruptions, safety concerns, stress, and uncertainty caused by the current situation. Despite this, we are not given the same options or support.

Private candidates pay the same fees, follow the same curriculum, and work just as hard as school candidates. We deserve equal treatment.

We are respectfully requesting that the British Council and relevant examination boards take immediate action to ensure fairness by offering private candidates the same options, including:

Access to the Portfolio of Evidence (PoE) pathway

Cancellation of exams for private candidates as well

The option to defer to the October/November session without penalty,

Full refunds for those unable to sit the exams

Education should be fair and equitable for all students, especially during times of crisis. No group of candidates should be disadvantaged simply because of their registration type.

We urge the British Council and examination boards to reconsider this decision and ensure equal treatment for all candidates in Kuwait.

Please support this petition and stand with private candidates in Kuwait.

We propose that the Ministry of Education in Kuwait implement a policy that allows private candidates the option to defer or cancel their exams without penalty. This policy should be inclusive and considerate of the diverse backgrounds and situations of private candidates.

Please join me in urging the Ministry of Education to make necessary changes. Stand with private candidates who deserve the same flexibility and adaptability that our peers in regular institutions receive. Your signature could be the powerful change needed to ensure education equity in Kuwait. Please sign this petition to support our cause.
