Allow Pets to Dine Outdoors with their Owners at Westfield Valley Fair Restaurants!
The Issue
As a proud resident of San Jose, CA, I am writing this petition to address an issue that is close to my heart. It is disheartening to see that Westfield Valley Fair Mall is no longer allowing pets to accompany their owners while dining outdoors at restaurants located outside of the Mall (King's Fish House, Bamboo Sushi, Maestro's Steakhouse, Shake Shack, etc.) I am unaware of such a restriction imposed by any restaurant with outdoor seating in the entire city of San Jose. This restriction not only limits the freedom and enjoyment of pet owners but also denies our furry friends the opportunity to spend quality time with us.
I have always been a responsible pet owner and firmly believe that well-behaved pets should be allowed in outdoor dining areas. Many other cities across California and the United States have recognized this need and successfully implemented pet-friendly policies without compromising hygiene or safety standards.
It is important to note that there are several benefits associated with allowing pets at outdoor dining establishments:
1. Increased Business: Numerous studies have shown that pet-friendly establishments attract more customers than those without such accommodations. According to a survey conducted by the American Pet Products Association (APPA), 37% of pet owners would dine out more frequently if restaurants allowed them to bring their pets along. More than 57% of Californians are pet owners.
2. Health Benefits: Spending time outdoors has proven health benefits for both humans and animals, including stress reduction, increased vitamin D intake, improved mood, and enhanced overall well-being.
3. Responsible Pet Ownership: By allowing pets at outdoor dining areas under certain guidelines (such as leash requirements), we can encourage responsible ownership practices among pet owners while ensuring everyone's safety and comfort.
I understand concerns about hygiene regulations; however, it is essential to note that many cities have successfully implemented pet-friendly policies while maintaining cleanliness and safety standards. For instance, San Diego, CA, has allowed pets in outdoor dining areas for years without any significant issues.
By signing this petition, we urge the restaurant management of Valley Fair Mall to reconsider their current policy and allow well-behaved pets to accompany their owners in outdoor seating areas. We believe that by implementing reasonable guidelines and regulations, such as leash requirements and designated pet-friendly sections, we can create a harmonious environment where both pet owners and non-pet owners can enjoy dining together.
Let's make San Jose a more inclusive city for all its residents – including our beloved furry companions! Sign this petition today to show your support for allowing pets at Valley Fair restaurants with outdoor seating. Together, we can make a positive change that benefits both humans and animals alike.
Thank you for your support!
