The Issue

In our neighborhood, children have always gathered to play and enjoy their time outdoors. It’s a simple joy, seeing them bond over sports and games, laughing and playing without a care in the world. Recently, an issue has arisen that threatens this wholesome aspect of our community—the placement of temporary basketball goals.

The basketball goals that have been set up in the neighborhood are not a permanent fixture. They are flexible, easily movable, and most importantly, they bring happiness and health benefits to the children. These goals are not causing any harm to anyone. They don’t obstruct traffic, they don’t cause noise pollution, they simply offer our kids a chance to engage in physical activity and foster friendships.

It is in these moments that lifelong memories and relationships are formed. The occasional scrape or bruise is a testament to a day well spent, a small price for hours of laughter and joy. Moving these goals aside is a simple task and does not inconvenience anyone significantly.

Please, let’s not strip away these moments of innocence and joy from our children’s lives. As adults, it’s our responsibility to ensure that their developmental needs are met in safe and supportive environments. By allowing these basketball hoops to remain, we support their right to a healthy, active, and sociable childhood.

I urge our local community and relevant authorities to reconsider any plans to remove these temporary basketball goals. Let’s work together to find solutions that accommodate everyone without dissolving the joy and play from our children's lives.

Please sign this petition to support our plea to keep the temporary basketball goals in our neighborhoods for the well-being and happiness of our kids. Their playtime is precious—let’s protect it.
