Nightmare on Redick has been doing large scale Halloween and Christmas walk through non profit displays for over ten years. This is a lot of hard work, but is extremely rewarding when you see how many people in the community make it a family tradition. Unfortunately, our HOA had their attorney send us a letter stating that we need to shut down our displays, as we are violated our covenants regulation that there can be no permanent or temporary structures built in our yard. We had a meeting with the board last year, and they agreed to amend the covenants to specify that temporary structures would be allowed. Apparently that did not happen, and we were basically lied to.  What we want is to be able to create our Halloween and Christmas displays with a temporary construction in our driveway for the community to enjoy.

Halloween night did not end the way we have liked unfortunately. We had a mob of teenage kids that came and were vandalizing people’s property, throwing rocks, egging houses, chanting racial slurs, being very rude to the families trick or treating, fighting, and jumping on cars. Our HOA is blaming our Halloween display for this disruption and destruction, and is having a lawyer send us a detailed letter stating that we are not allowed to do big displays anymore, and that we have until this weekend to take our entire display down to avoid a big fine. We were the ones who called OPD when things got out of hand right when we started to notice the teenagers congregating. So this will be our true LST RIDE for big displays, but the ride will not be over. We may be done with Cherry Hills and find a new place to call home. I will be contacting the local news stations to do an interview on this, as it is astonishing that they are trying to tell us something we do out of the kindness of our heart is hurting our subdivision.
