The Issue

Countless divers are lacking a personally acceptable means of acquiring park passes to access Jackson Blue Spring park in Marianna, Florida. Ever since the distribution of park passes has no longer been available from the Jackson County Sheriffs Office there have been divers that feel they no longer have an acceptable solution to purchase park passes. There have also been issues, as recently as within the past few months, with people accessing the park with the combination to open the gate irregardless of whether or not they have an annual pass or day pass. The current process for acquiring park passes is negatively impacting both the dive community as well as Jackson county. There are MANY members of the dive community that have recently expressed concerns that there is only one place to acquire passes. All of them have expressed great interest in having at least one other option to purchase passes for Jackson Blue Spring Park. The county is also being affected even further due to the loss of income from those accessing the park without even purchasing a pass. The liability concerns are not something this petition can address because the depth of any possible legal issues are not fully understood by the petitioners but having other options to get passes would also help to have all park goers complete any and all waivers or legal documents.

There is a new dive shop forming in Marianna, Florida that is willing and able to help manage the parks sign in process. One of the owners of the shop, as well as the manager of the shop, have several years of experience with managing Jackson Blue Springs sign-in process and they are confident that they can help many more divers regain access to a dive site that they have loved so much in the past but have not been to for quite some time. This will also help the county by offering higher potential revenue and more importantly, less liability risks by helping to ensure that ANYONE who is accessing the park for diving purposes have in fact stopped in to buy their pass and filled out all the appropriate paperwork
