Our family finds itself in a difficult situation, and I'm reaching out to the community of Middletown, NJ, to help us resolve it. My daughter, Lilian Acevedo, had thrived at Thorne Middle School during her time there. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, our family had to relocate to Florida. Unfortunately, our time in Florida did not yield the outcomes we had hoped for, prompting us to return to New Jersey. Despite our efforts, we have struggled to secure housing back in the Middletown district.

The disruption of this move has been significant for Lilian, who's found herself in a new school without the familiar support system of friends, teachers, and acquaintances she held dear at Thorne. The first day at her new school was anything but smooth, and the lack of familiar faces has made an already challenging transition even more difficult.

Lilian's academic, social, and emotional well-being flourished at Thorne Middle School. This isn't just a school for her; it's a nurturing and supportive community that feels like home, and it plays a crucial role in her development. Missing out on the friendships and relationships she fostered at Thorne is heartbreaking, and her future success may significantly benefit from being reintegrated into this environment.

Given these circumstances, I'm petitioning to kindly request the Thorne Middle School administration and the Middletown Board of Education to consider a special case for Lilian to return, despite not currently residing in the district.

Access to educational environments where students thrive should remain a priority for all schools. Having Lilian back would greatly support her continuity of education and her overall personal growth in these crucial early teenage years.
