Allow Imran Khan to Contest Oxford Chancellor Election: Stand for Fairness and Justice

Allow Imran Khan to Contest Oxford Chancellor Election: Stand for Fairness and Justice
The Issue
To the Administration of Oxford University,
We, the undersigned, urge the leadership of Oxford University to ensure that fairness and justice prevail in the upcoming Chancellor election by allowing Imran Khan, the former Prime Minister of Pakistan, to contest without obstruction.
Imran Khan, an alumnus of Oxford University, has demonstrated exceptional leadership and dedication throughout his career. His vision for transparency, justice, and accountability has resonated globally, and his contributions to both Pakistan and international discourse are well-known. Unfortunately, due to political turmoil in Pakistan, Khan has become the target of systematic political persecution. After his removal from office, over 200 false and baseless cases have been registered against him, and he is currently being held as a political prisoner.
Recently, a petition was filed at Oxford University to prevent him from contesting the election for Chancellor, citing allegations that are rooted in ongoing political vendettas rather than factual evidence. This petition is a continuation of the political victimization Khan has faced at the hands of Pakistan's powerful and corrupt military establishment, which seeks to silence his voice and undermine his influence both domestically and internationally.
We believe that Oxford University, known for upholding the values of justice, free expression, and academic integrity, should not allow these external political pressures to interfere in its democratic processes. Imran Khan’s candidacy for Chancellor represents his commitment to these principles, and barring him from the election based on politically motivated accusations would be a grave injustice.
We respectfully ask Oxford University to:
Reject the false and malicious petition that seeks to disqualify Imran Khan from contesting the Chancellor election.
Uphold the principles of fairness, free speech, and justice by allowing him to participate in the election.
Ensure that external political influences do not dictate the course of the university’s decisions.
By signing this petition, we stand in support of Imran Khan’s right to run for the position of Chancellor and against the efforts to deny him this opportunity through baseless accusations. We trust that Oxford University will prioritize justice and uphold its esteemed values.
