My heart aches as I share my story of loss and frustration, a story that resonates with many others who cherish their pets as family members. My beloved Bengal cat has found herself lost within the expansive grounds of Fermilab, a federally restrictive property in Illinois. Despite multiple sightings, I am met with resistance and minimum cooperation, leaving my family helpless in our efforts to bring her home.

   I fully respect the facility, the work they do and totally understand the necessity for strict protocols. Sadly,  while safeguards are essential to protect the integrity of their work, the strict regulations impede families from recovering lost pets that, like my cat, maybe trapped within their vast territory. Ruby is more than a pet—she is family. Denying her recovery is devastating and heartbreaking, especially when humane methods are available to use. She is an innocent soul that got lost and needs our help to get back home safely.

      By signing this petition, you are asking Fermilab to do the humane and compassionate thing: allow Ruby to be safely recovered and reunited with her family. This includes:

-Permitting licensed trappers and animal recovery specialists to set up humane traps.

-Allowing supervised scent trails and feeding stations to safely draw Ruby back.

-Cooperating with local animal services and animal welfare organizations to assist in her recovery.
