Today, a protest was held outside Gordon Street surgery as residents believe ICB has made significant decisions affecting the local community without public consultation. The protest saw a massive record-breaking turnout of 100 local residents.
It is concerning that there has been no public or patient consultation by ICB regarding the potential loss of a vital healthcare service, which could have negative consequences for patients at Gordon street surgery and neighbouring surgeries. The proposed change is not welcomed as patients fear a decline in the quality of care, especially for those with limited access to transportation and those of whom are disabled or bedboud. Additionally, the capacity of other practices to accommodate ten thousands of patients raises legitimate concerns about maintaining high standards of care across the area. The importance of involving the community in such decisions cannot be overstated.
It is also important to recognise the dedication and commitment of the GPs and NHS nurses who have served the practice over the 12 years. It is evident retaining these valuable healthcare professionals will help ensure continuity of care for patients and maintain the quality of service provided. Their experience and expertise are crucial in delivering excellent healthcare services to the community
The community is advocating for continuity of care from familiar healthcare providers at the practice, especially considering the dedication and relationships built over the years. Any changes in healthcare services by ICB will be met with resistance by the public. It is crucial for ICB to consider the sentiments of the patients and public in their decision-making process to ensure transparency and inclusivity.
We will not settle unless the contracts with previous GPs is continued which ICB can easily facilitate by renewing their contract and allowing them to continue their exceptional care.We also would like another review by ICB which is impartial and involves public consultation.ICB must re-run the procurement for Gordon street surgery contract with public consultation this time.
All of community felt betrayed as they only received a letter today for the relocation which is set to due next week.We cannot let this occur especially without any public or patient consultation on behalf of ICB.A decision concerning us should involve us.Unless ICB rescind their decision, the peaceful protests and marches will continue and we will also escalate our grave concerns through other channels.
Several residents have emailed ICB on multiple occasions, including a month prior and received no response. The lack of engagement from ICB from our emails and the change.org petition (signed by over 350 people) has now led to members of the public taking matters in their own hands.
Please now email CQC on the email below : enquiries@cqc.org.uk and Laura.bird@staffsstoke.icb.nhs.uk.
STOP the termination of the GP partnership and allow the previous GPs to continue providing high level care. All of the local public believe Gordon Street Surgery has improved significantly over the years in a short time period whilst undergoing a changeover of staff.Gordon street Surgery has even introduced new online system to prebook appointments to ensure utmost patient satisfaction. We will continue to support them in their improvements. We refuse to lose GPs and our practice.
Thank you for attending the protest held by Bilal Tabassum and Fatima. Further news regarding another protest will be out soon! Our voices matter! The NHS has always been about patients not providers! The fight continues!
