The Issue

Living in a country with deep-rooted Christian values, it feels unjust that those of us who wish to share the teachings of the Gospel face the threat of prosecution or arrest. Our nation has a long history of religious freedom, and as a Christian, I believe this should extend to the freedom to preach on the streets.

Current legislation and enforcement practices hinder the ability of individuals to freely express and share their religious beliefs in public spaces. The ability to preach and spread the Gospel is a fundamental aspect of expressing our faith, a freedom that should not be impeded by fear of legal repercussions.

Historically, the streets of the United Kingdom have been vibrant places of discussion and expression. Street preachers have played a crucial role in sharing important messages, fostering a space for conversation and reflection in communities. However, recent reports have shown a troubling increase in cases where street preachers have been arrested or faced legal action for expressing their beliefs.

The United Kingdom is a signatory to numerous international human rights agreements that affirm the right to freedom of thought, conscience, and religion. According to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, everyone has the right to manifest their religion or belief in teaching, practice, worship, and observance.

To uphold these values, I urge lawmakers and law enforcement agencies to revise any policies that unjustly limit religious expression in public spaces. We need clear and fair guidelines that protect the rights of street preachers while maintaining public order.

Please sign this petition to help ensure that the freedom to preach the Gospel is protected and respected across all streets of the UK. Together, let's stand up for religious freedom and make sure that every Christian in the UK can express their faith without fear of prosecution or arrest.
