At the moment, “livestock” have no legal protection whatsoever, even though they deserve to be treated just as we treat our pets and other humans. They deserve legal protection to stop the abuse that they face daily due to animal agriculture. Because, really, what’s the difference between your most beloved pet and a helpless farm animal? Why love one and eat the other?
