The Issue

At the Minnesota Frost game that took place on March 29, 2026, fans were stopped by security at Grand Casino Arena (GCA) and informed they would not be able to enter the game wearing their Minnesota Rebel Loon jerseys, pins, shirts and many other expressions of solidarity within our community, which were incorrectly classified as political.

We request the PWHL and Grand Casino Arena, owned by the City of St. Paul and operated by Minnesota Sports and Entertainment allow our fans to continue to wear their MN Rebel Loon attire.

These jerseys (and many other expressions of the MN Rebel Loon) generate mutual aid funds that have a profoundly positive impact on our neighbors in need.

These jerseys, in particular, have largely contributed to a local small business's ability to donate over $8000 (and counting) for a local mutual aid organization.

These jerseys demonstrate the love, compassion and humanity that persists beyond the trauma and pain our communities have endured.

We wear these peacefully. We wear them with compassion. We wear them in solidarity

We are experiencing a moment in our history where hockey is extending beyond the rink. We are no longer unified simply by our love of hockey, we are unified in our pursuit to take care of our neighbors and show up for each other in the most moving and powerful ways.

We are the State of Hockey. We are Minnesotans. These pieces of our community identity are deeply intertwined in this moment.

We have worn these proudly and peacefully at the home games that took place on 3/13, 3/18 and 3/25 without issue.

As stated above, while we excitedly walked into our markedly safe space as a community of fans at Grand Casino Arena, we were stopped and stripped of our ability to peacefully express solidarity within our community.

Please allow our fans to continue to peacefully wear our Minnesota Rebel Loon jerseys and other attire.
