New York City has a rich history of tolerance towards canines in bars and taverns. For hundreds of years these loyal animals have served as companions and friends at the foot of the barstool. Skippy, once a regular at P.J. Clarke's, sits stuffed on the bar to this day taking his place near a 9/11 firemen's memorial. It's time to restore New York City's warm and rich tradition of B.Y.O.F. or bring your own friends at New York City bars.

We believe that health and hygiene in city restaurants and bars is paramount. However, since the City adopted the letter grading policy, dogs have been classified as a critical violation, akin to having cockroaches in the facility’s food (see page 15, under 4M and 4O). We're asking for an end to this absurd over governance. Please allow dogs in establishments that serve only beer, wine or spirits in New York City again!
