In our quest to find out WHY we can no longer deliver classes from Carrum Community Hall, today we received this from Kate Waters - GM Community Strengthening, City of Kingston.  We have run Puppy Classes in the hall for nearly 25 years!  Why is that suddenly a problem to anyone & how have our classes limited hire to anyone else?

"Council is continually assessing the needs of our community hubs and halls, and after careful consideration, it has been determined that the current use of the Carrum Community Hall for dog training is not an appropriate use of a community facility.

Furthermore, having groups of animals in a community facility that is not purpose built for that use, is likely to limit our ability to hire out the facility to other users."

Wow,  in the 25 years I have worked with people and dogs I have seen progress in terms of the contribution dogs make to human well being.  Dogs are regularly used to enrich lives in so many ways.  We have dogs visiting hospitals, schools, aged care facilities and much more.  There is a lot of evidence that dogs benefit and strengthen communities and lives.

We hope City of Kingston can see the benefits and allow us to continue to use the hall for classes.  Please keep sharing and signing our petition.
