The issue

After 25 years of service to our community, Kingston Council in Melbourne has cancelled our access to our community hall, without any notice or discussion.

New puppy owners & people with dog problems deserve access to professional trainers who use modern, fear free animal training methods.  More than half our homes have a dog. Access to training and support from qualified professionals means less community dog problems!

Paw Behaviour has offered Classes at the Carrum Community Hall since around 2001 & in nearly 24 years has helped thousands of families learn new skills to raise & train their dog.  City of Kingston Council has decided to stop Paw Behaviour from using the hall for classes from 31 December 2024.  No explanation given.  No consultation provided & no negotiations undertaken.

Community education classes on dog behaviour, educational resources & mentorship to animal studies students will STOP if Paw Behaviour cannot access a venue to run classes within the local Carrum Community.  Australian local councils need to provide more venues for professional dog training support & group classes.  Experienced professional dog trainers also:

  • Provide support for therapy dog training
  • Mentorship for students of dog behaviour
  • Dog bite prevention for school age children
  • Assistance dog training

We cannot do this without a community venue!

Many new puppy owners have no idea that dog training is an unregulated industry.  Choosing a qualified professional who uses modern animal training and can identify & address potential issues early, will allow you to prevent problems by starting work before adolescence arrives!

Since Covid so many people have struggled to raise well rounded pups.  Your home with the best puppy ever means everything to us & we love helping you in classes!

We need a venue to continue to help our community with dog training & management!  If you support our work, or if we've helped you, please sign & help us so that we can continue to help puppies & people within the City of Kingston.
