Allow Continued Residence for Rescued Mini Pigs in Butler, NJ

Allow Continued Residence for Rescued Mini Pigs in Butler, NJ
The Issue
Four years ago, we rescued our beloved mini pigs from an infamous animal abuse farm in New Jersey. When they came into our lives, they were hospice cases: malnourished and suffering from mange. Against all odds, we nursed them back to health. Today, these pigs live very privileged lives on our property. They have been with us and been a part of our community in Butler for this time, living as symbols of recovery and resilience. Recently, we came across a legal situation that threatens to take away their home.
Mini pigs are typically treated as pets and companion animals, no different from a dog or a cat. In many states, including New Jersey, mini pigs are legal to own as pets. However, Butler's current regulations do not allow for such. Concerningly, there have been instances where pet pigs have been forcibly removed from their homes due to some municipality regulations (source: Minipig Info). Flashbacks of the adverse conditions from which we rescued our pigs come rushing back to us.
We are advocating for an exception to these regulations, if not a complete revision to acknowledge mini pigs as recognized pet varieties. We believe this action would not only benefit us and our pigs but also any future pig owners in Butler, NJ.
We need your help to continue providing a safe, loving home for our mini pigs. A signature from you could solidify the future of our dear pets, and potentially pave the way for more equitable pet laws within our township. Please join us in imploring the Butler Township's representatives to recognize our mini pigs as legitimate pets and grant us the right to continue to keep them on our property.
