The Issue

I have had Blu, my beloved Staffordshire Bull Terrier, for three years. She is not just a pet she is family. After years of living peacefully in our home, Tuath Housing has suddenly decided that Blu must be rehomed within seven days because she is considered a restricted breed. This decision has been devastating for our family, especially since Blu is the most placid, gentle, and lovable dog you could ever meet.

Blu is more than just a companion to me; she is my emotional support animal. I suffer from anxiety and depression, and Blu's calm and gentle presence has been a source of comfort and stability in my life. My children adore her, and she is deeply loved by everyone who knows her.

Throughout our time living here, Tuath Housing representatives have seen Blu numerous times. There has never been a single issue or complaint about her. She has proven time and again to be a well behaved and sociable dog. Despite this, Tuath Housing insists that Blu must go simply because of her breed.

In Ireland, where dogs are valued members of many families, it is imperative to ensure that rules and regulations are applied with common sense and compassion. Not all dogs of restricted breeds are dangerous, and judgments should be made on a case-by-case basis, considering the individual dog's behavior and temperament.

I am reaching out to the residents of Dublin and to all animal lovers who believe that Blu deserves to stay in her loving home. She poses no threat and is cherished by her family. We ask Tuath Housing to reconsider their decision, allowing Blu to continue providing the love and companionship that is so vital to my wellbeing and the happiness of my children.

Please help us in our fight to keep Blu at home, where she belongs, with the people who love her. Sign this petition and share it with others who understand the unique bond between dogs and their owners. Together, we can make a difference and show that compassion and understanding can prevail.

Thank you for your support. Let us keep Blu in the home where she is truly cherished.
