The Issue

Over the past 8 years the developers at Unmasked Games (Known as Team Kanohi until very recently) have been hard at work creating a fan made game within the LEGO BIONICLE Universe. These developers never made a cent and intended on releasing the game for free, and had maintained open communication with LEGO to ensure that the project was not in violation of any policies. Everything the team did was with The LEGO Group's permission and was within the Fair Play Guidelines. Now, shortly before the release of their Free the Band gameplay demo, LEGO has decided to change their stance on fan projects, and has demanded that BIONICLE Masks of Power to cease development and remove the project from the public eye.

As it stands now the development team is not allowed to continue development or even release the nearly completed demo. We are asking the LEGO group to reverse this ridiculous decision, Please allow the development team to release the demo and continue working on something truly amazing! LEGO as a whole has always emphasized and represented community and creativity, sending a cease and desist to a project that emulates both of these ideals, after having given permission to this team, is a whole new low for the company.

These developers have spent countless hours on this game, all the while refusing any donations and fully intending on releasing the game for free. This project in no way would hurt the LEGO Group's income nor ideals.
