Allow Backyard Chickens in Ottawa

The Issue

Often I run out of eggs and have to go buy some, but if I had backyard chickens, I could easily just go outside to get eggs. Backyard chickens provide a sustainable source of fresh eggs and can help reduce food waste by consuming kitchen scraps. Many cities across Canada, including Toronto and Vancouver, already allow residents to keep a limited number of hens for personal use. It's time for Ottawa to join these forward-thinking cities and support urban agriculture.

Allowing backyard chickens would not only benefit individual households but also promote local food production and self-sufficiency. Let's make Ottawa a more sustainable city by permitting residents to keep backyard chickens. Please sign this petition to show your support!
