Allow backyard chickens in Greenwood Indiana!

Allow backyard chickens in Greenwood Indiana!
The Issue
Dear Greenwood City Council,
We believe that it is time to allow backyard chickens in Greenwood, Indiana. Many cities across the United States have already legalized backyard chicken keeping, and it is time for Greenwood to follow suit.
Backyard chickens provide many benefits to their owners and the community. They are a source of fresh eggs, which can be healthier and more sustainable than store-bought eggs. Chickens also help control pests in gardens and provide natural fertilizer for plants.
Contrary to popular belief, backyard chickens do not create excessive noise or odor when properly cared for. In fact, studies have shown that dogs are louder than chickens on average. Additionally, many cities have implemented regulations such as limiting the number of chickens allowed per household and requiring proper coop maintenance to ensure minimal impact on neighbors.
Allowing backyard chickens would also promote self-sufficiency and sustainability in our community. With rising concerns about food security and environmental impact, allowing residents to raise their own food would be a positive step towards a more sustainable future.
We urge you to consider legalizing backyard chicken keeping in Greenwood, Indiana. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Sincerely,
Kimberlie Board
