Students at KHS are worried about facing  significant disruptions in their daily routines due to the recently enforced policy of mandatory locker use, prohibiting the carrying of any type of bag throughout the school day. This change has sparked considerable concern among students, as it is perceived not only as an inconvenience but also as a practice that may lead to increased tardiness and other logistical challenges.

The rationale provided by the school board for this policy revolves around enhancing security measures by reducing the risk of students carrying weapons or smoking/vaping devices. However, many students believe that this approach does not effectively address these concerns and merely complicates their ability to manage their academic responsibilities efficiently.

Carrying necessary materials between classes without a bag can slow down students' movement, obstruct organization, and hurt their ability to fully participate in learning activities. Many students report feeling rushed and stressed even without lockers as they navigate the school day, which can negatively affect their educational experience and overall wellbeing.

There are alternative solutions that can maintain the focus on safety while also respecting students' need for practical and efficient means of transportation for their educational materials.
