Allow all cannabis businesses in Berkeley Township, NJ

Allow all cannabis businesses in Berkeley Township, NJ
The Issue
REPEAL Ordinance 21-29-OA Prohibiting the Operation of any Class of Cannabis Businesses within the Geographical Boundaries of the Town.
Allow All types of micro cannabis business licenses in Berkeley Township.
-Cultivator
-Retailer
-Distributor
-Wholesaler
-Processor
-Delivery License
Why is this important?
It creates jobs. - Micro license means local employment. 100’s of potential jobs in a multi billion dollar industry await our residents.
Tax Recovery - Berkeley Township is about to lose 10% of its residential tax income: Source
A New Jersey Superior Court ruled that South Seaside Park can leave Berkeley Township and join Seaside Park! If the borough loses its appeal it could mean higher taxes for Berkeley Township residents. A 2% local recreational cannabis tax could keep our residents tax dollars in their pockets.
Tax Revenue -NJ’s expected annual excise tax from a fully operational market is $158,974,353. Berkeley Township could potentially be leaving millions in tax revenue on the table!
We already said yes - Berkeley residents have already voted in favor of having cannabis businesses in our town! The people of Berkeley voted 59% in favor of NJ’s Ballot Question 1 to amend our state’s constitution and legalize cannabis.
NJ’s statewide passage is the largest margin of victory for cannabis legalization in US history!
We need your support to deliver millions of dollars in economic opportunity annually for the citizens of Berkeley.
