Allow a Permanent Memorial Bench for Damion Sayvon Robinson
The Issue
On June 8th, 2020 Damion was riding on his motorcycle when he was crashed into by a reckless driver on Bles Park Dr. Since then, his long-term girlfriend Selena has lovingly maintained beautiful floral, seasonal, and holiday memorials to honor his memory. For almost four years, this tribute has been a heartfelt reminder of Damion's life and a symbol of love and respect. And a reminder to SLOW DOWN in the neighborhoods.
Recently, however, a new neighbor has aggressively removed these memorials over the past four months. This act of insensitivity disregards the profound grief Selena continues to experience and undermines her right to mourn in her own way.
We propose placing a permanent memorial bench at the site of the accident on Bles Park Drive. This bench will not only serve as an endearing tribute to Damion but also provide neighbors with a place to reflect and remind drivers to slow down for safety. Additionally, it will offer neighborhood children a place to sit while waiting for their school bus.
